Horse-drawn carriage rides will be available each night from Nov. 27 to Dec. 27 and again on Dec. 31 and Jan 1. On the week nights, they will run 6:00 pm to approximately 9:00pm. Each carriage ride costs $25. For more information, call 602-361-5355.

Once again the Glendale Glitterscelebration in Historic Downtown Glendale, Arizona will host nearly fifty thousand visitors who will start the holiday season off in style. In 2008, the dates for the opening festival of the Glendale Glitters Spectacularare Nov. 28 and 29.
Glendale Glitters features nearly 1 million multi-colored lights that blanket twelve blocks of Historic Downtown Glendale including Murphy Park, Old Towne, the Glendale Civic Center and the shops of Catlin Court. The lights twinkle nightly from 6-10 p.m. through Jan 17, 2008. Admission and parking are free.
Glendale Glitters Spectacular Weekend hours are 5 to 10 p.m. both Friday and Saturday. The official lighting ceremony takes place on Friday only, at 6 p.m. in the Municipal Complex Amphitheater just west of Murphy Park.
On both days visitors will find multiple entertainment venues, a Children's Wonderland that includes a little-tikes snowfield, a food court, holiday craft vendors and horse-drawn carriage rides. Santa will make his annual appearance with both professional and "bring your own camera" photo opportunities. Many of the antique specialty shops and restaurants of historic downtown Glendale have extended business hours.
Historic Downtown Glendale is located just east and north of 59th and Glendale Avenues. There are more than 2,000 free parking spaces within a 10-minute walk. Additional free parking and shuttles are available at Glendale Community College, 59th and Olive Avenues, a five-minute ride away. Security will be provided at the shuttle lot. Handicapped parking is located in all parking areas and handicapped participants can be dropped off at 58th Drive and Glenn Drive.
Additional holiday activity nights include the Glendale Glitter Downtown Holiday Weekends on December 5, 6, 12, 13, 19, 20, 2008. From 6-10 p.m. each night, these evenings will include holiday choirs and other entertainers, craft and food vendors, Santa, and horse-drawn carriage rides.
There will also be forty-two "quiet nights" when no activities are planned. These nights are designed for those who wish to enjoy the simple serenity of the beautiful lights in Glendale.
The "night the lights go out" will be Saturday, January 17, 2008 as twelve blocks of historic downtown are transformed into Glendale Glitter & Glow Block Party. A dozen plus bands, three dozen hot air balloons, street performers and an estimated 70,000 people will fill the streets from 3-10 p.m. as Glendale Glitters comes to an end for another year.
